Microsoft’s Project Natal gets detailed and tests our patience with launch date
When we first heard of Microsoft's Project Natal, our immediate thoughts were about public availability. Sadly, it looks like this hot new hardware is going to marinate for another year before it becomes available to the public in November 2010. Microsoft's plan is to release the camera unit, which registers body movement so that you are the controller, along with 14 games ready to go. The camera is rumored to cost somewhere between $50 to $80 (and it might actually include those 14 games for that price), which isn't bad for what Microsoft is trying to accomplish — impulse buys. Why is it going to take so long to release a product that has already been demoed at E3? Well, the 14 compatible games are still being developed and Microsoft is trying to crank out 5 million camera units for launch. And just like refreshing gadgets with new color options, additional hardware and new ways to interface with games will keep the Xbox 360 from becoming outdated any time soon. Palm Pre now $99 at Best Buy
Palm Pre now $99 at Best Buy
Likely because a) sufficient funds have been obtained from early adopters, and b) the dirt cheap $99 iPhone 3G is making it hard for people to switch to something new, Best Buy has lowered the price of the Palm Pre to $99.99 for those who purchase it on contract, a savings of $100. What's more is that that pesky $100 mail-in rebate won't have to be dealt with as Best Buy already has you covered where that's concerned. But back to that $99.99 price tag. So far there is nothing to indicate that this new price-point is going to remain permanent, but for the sake of everyone involved we certainly hope that a $99.99 Pre is the new norm.

HTC Brings WiFi Tethering to Windows Phone
The CAB installer is available at XDA-Developers. One note: the app installs but doesn't create a shortcut. You'll have to locate the file using File Explorer or a third party file manager software and create your own shortcut. The app is accessed under: \windows\CMInternetsharing.exe

HTC Leo gets spec’d; mmmmm, Snapdragon
Earlier this week we reported some rumored details of the upcoming HTC Leo and today it looks like things are now getting flushed out a bit. Actually, it looks like the Leo may turn out the be the HTC Firestone we first saw back in January. While all this is still in the rumor phase of course, we can't help but get a little giddy each and every time we see mention of Qualcomm's 1GHz beast of a processor. So behold — the kind of, maybe, sort of, possible specs for the HTC Leo/Firestone:
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity
- Dual-band HSDPA connectivity (900/2100 MHz)
- 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800) capacitive touchscreen display
- Windows Mobile 6.5
- Qualcomm 1GHz MSM 8250 Snapdragon processor
- Wi-Fi
- GPS, A-GPS
- Accelerometer
- Light & proximity sensors
- 3.5mm headset jack
- 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with dual LED flash
- 512MB flash memory, 320MB RAM
- MicroSD card support
- 1230 mAh battery
- 121 x 67 x 11 millimeters
Mmmm, Windows Mobile 6.5 with a giant capacitive WVGA touchscreen and a Snapdragon processor. Yeah, we want it.

Opera Mobile 9.7 for Windows Mobile Beats out iPhone 3GS Safari Browser in Spe
From Pocketnow.com
Wow, Opera Mobile 9.7 beta with Turbo even beats out the super iPhone 3GS in WiFi browser speeds
Early comparisons of the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre put the Pre and the iPhone 3G browsers at the same speed, with the new iPhone 3GS and Open GL rendering even faster, though neither the Pre nor the 3G were slouches.
The latest ZDNet speed tests utilizing browsers from Android's T-Mobile G1, a number of Symbian S60 devices from Nokia, the iPhone 3G, the new 3GS, and the Pharos Traveler 137 with Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo shows that the Windows Mobile Pharos edges out the iPhone 3GS in browser rendering, beating the Apple smartphone on a majority of the tests. The tests measured rendering on a variety of different sites.
